ARSON
INVESTIGATION
The North Fort Myers Fire Control District has been providing fire investigation services to the community since the early 1990’s.
The service is provided to the citizens of North Fort Myers free of charge following any fire event.
The department established the first full-time fire investigative unit in 2000.
Captain Daryl Burton led the unit’s inception. Captain Burton was also instrumental in helping develop the county wide Arson Task Force.
This task force has representatives from all twenty fire districts across the county. The representatives assist one another frequently on bigger fires.
The North Fort Myers fire investigative unit is currently staffed by two full time investigators.
The department has a truck which is equipped with auxiliary lighting systems, and a full accompaniment of investigative tools.
The fire investigative unit is tasked with thorough documentation of the fire scene and the development of a cause and origin report.
